Biffy Clyro continue what has already become a phenomenal year with the release of the single ‘Opposite’ on June 24th on 14th Floor Records.

Effectively the title track from their similarly titled #1 album ‘Opposites’, the single is a brooding, emotional ballad that captures the trio at their most tender. As with the rest of the double-album, the track was produced by GGGarth Richardson and recorded in Los Angeles.

Biffy Clyro started 2013 by landing another Top 20 hit in the shape of ‘Black Chandelier’ before ‘Opposites’ debuted at #1 with first week sales of over 70,000 and reached Gold status soon afterwards. The album spent thirteen weeks in the Top 40 and looks likely to return to the upper reaches of the charts when the band headline Radio 1’s Big Weekend on May 25th and then the Reading and Leeds Festivals in August.

Named as Best British Band at this year’s NME Awards, the band recently completed an eleven-date UK and Ireland arena tour which culminated with a sold-out show at London’s 20,000 capacity O2 Arena. Kerrang! declared: “[The songs] force their way from the stage into the rafters of this vast arena as if space were no object”, while The Times’ review concluded: “Biffy Clyro have joined the elite corps of rock groups who can confidently tour the arena circuit.”
