Recently named as Best British Band at the NME Awards and having completed an eleven-date UK and Ireland arena tour in support of their #1 album ‘Opposites’ which culminated with a sold-out show at London’s 20,000 capacity O2 Arena, Biffy Clyro can now announce they will play a headline set at Radio 1’s Big Weekend on Saturday May 25th.

Hosted in Ebrington Square, Derry-Londonderry, the event will see Biffy Clyro take to the stage for an hour-long set which commences at 9.30pm. They join a line-up that so far includes Two Door Cinema Club and Olly Murs.

This year's Big Weekend consists of three days of great music, with Friday May 24th seeing the Main Stage focused on dance music and a second stage run by 1Xtra. Saturday and Sunday will feature a star-studded Main Stage and In New Music We Trust Stage similar to previous events. During the event, you'll be able to catch up on all the festivities on Radio 1, 1Xtra, BBC Three, Red Button and live on the Radio 1's Big Weekend website.

Released in January, the ‘Opposites’ album signals Biffy Clyro’s growing ambition with twenty tracks spread across two discs: ‘The Sand at the Core of Our Bones’ and ‘The Land at the End of Our Toes’. The album was recorded in Los Angeles with GGGarth Richardson on production duties.

Biffy Clyro’s next single release will be the album’s title track which is out on June 24th. They will then return in August to headline the Reading and Leeds festivals.
