Kwassa has been making music for as long as he can remember. He was still at school when he was part of the youngest band to play at Glastonbury, and has spent the past five years developing his sound. The result is a distinctive brand of pop inspired by “travel, youth and a desire to use music to experience things bigger than what I knew.” That experience prompted a change of identify for the young musician, real name Scott Verrill. As KYKO, he quickly found an audience online who connected with his musical daydreams about life and love. He independently released two Eps that earned support from The Line Of Best Fit, Wonderland and Clara Amfo at BBC Introducing, as he racked up a total of 15 million streams. A gentle nudge of encouragement from his sister convinced him to start playing live shows, which resulted in him selling out London’s Omeara. The new name reflects his wide-ranging inspirations including the music he grew up with: Vampire Weekend and particularly their song ‘Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa’.
